This John Taylor was the oldest son of Elisha Taylor II and Sarah Davis Taylor and was baptised in 1737 in Lebanon CT. He married Rhoda Taylor, his first cousin (daughter of Hezekiah Taylor) in 1755. They had a son also named John Taylor, who in turn had a son Gurden Taylor (born 1798).

Gurden Taylor's family stayed in Portland CT for quite awhile, although many moved to Waterbury CT. One of Gurden's sons is particularly interesting, John Sherman Taylor, and when more information on him is obtained and on the others, this blog will be expanded.
